Sustainable Development Goals

What is it?

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 goals adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 to address social, economic, and environmental challenges worldwide. Each SDG has specific targets and indicators to track progress. The goals are interconnected, meaning progress in one area can have a positive impact on others.

The SDGs are a call to action for all to work towards a more sustainable and equitable future. In 2022, the management team of Oleter Group prioritized the SDGs based on their impact on stakeholders and significance for people, the planet, and the economy.

After determining which targets to prioritize, we incorporated them into our strategy and mapped them to the disclosures in the GRI framework for this sustainability report.

The most relevant SDGs for Oleter Group

  • Goal 3 - Good health and well-being

The goal focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. For Oleter Group, it means ensuring that our employees have a safe workplace where injuries and illnesses are prevented at all costs.

  • Goal 5 - Gender equality

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. For us, it means paying equal wages for equal work, welcoming more women into this industry, and having more women in leading positions in Oleter Group.

  • Goal 7 - Affordable and clean energy

Ensure access to clean and affordable energy, which is key to the development of agriculture, business, communications, education, healthcare, and transportation. The lack of access to energy hinders economic and human development. For us, it means taking actions to increase our share of renewable energy.

  • Goal 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure

This goal seeks to build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. Economies with a diversified industrial sector and strong infrastructure sustained less damage and are experiencing faster recovery. For us, it means having a sustainable business model that adapts to changing times.

  • Goal 8 - Decent work and sustainable economic growth

Sustain per capita economic growth in accordance with national circumstances" is fundamental for our survival as a company, but also for our ability to pay fair wages and provide sustainable development. • Goal 10 - Reduced inequality

Ensure equal opportunity and reduce inequalities by adapting policies, especially fiscal, wage, and social protection policies, and progressively achieve greater equality. For us, it means having a diverse workforce and ensuring that everyone has equal rights.

  • Goal 12 - Responsible consumption and production

This goal is about ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, which is key to sustaining the livelihoods of current and future generations. For us, it means reducing chemicals and all waste throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reducing their release to air, water, and soil to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment.

  • Goal 13 - Climate Action

Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies, and planning. Climate change is taken into account when we do our risk analysis. We also want to mitigate climate change through our business and reduce our negative environmental impact in line with the Paris Agreement.
